Simple pleasures are the lifeblood of good living. Take the "braai" - or barbeque as it is known in most parts of the world. It involves a couple of basic processes:
- light fire, have a beer
- watch fire, banter with mates, have another beer
- place meat on grill, have another beer
- Ignore missus if she proffers any advice on cooking times
- turn meat with braai tongs, give it the odd prod, have another beer
- shout to missus to have the salads ready
- take a photo of your meat and put in on Facebook (using social media to create braai envy is acceptable)
- shout to missus to bring you a dish for the meat - and a beer
- Use tongs and gently place meat in dish
- Eat heartily, have a beer - and maybe some salad too.
I put this into practice today; the weather was superb so my wife and I raced down to Homebase to buy a barbeque. I haven't owned one since I have been in London, but that all changed today. I walked out of Homebase kitted to the hilt with Weber and related accessories and proceeded to cook up a storm - if I may say so myself. Picture evidence below - in keeping with Step 7!
Just the way to start the new week :)
